ANIMATED INTRO

A music video tribute to the video game series "Fortnite".

The project's challenge was showcasing different types of game-play, in-game items, and compiling 2 years worth of in-game events in 40 seconds.

I was responsible for the entire film from creating storyboards, rough animation, clean-up, coloring, editing, effects, and publishing.

Scene / Lyrics Breakdown

"Don't you be afraid,"

We see a girl offer her hand to a new player, telling him to trust her. He is hugging one of the in-game items.

"Everything will change, You and I,"

The lyrics sing 'you and I' as he holder her hand, strengthening the meaning of teamwork in the game.

"Jumping off the edge"

As these words are sung they leap off the edge in a shopping cart - which is a vehicle in the game for 2 players to ride.

"They say dreamers never die."

She is using a wrap which was to celebrate the Fortnite world cup.

"They say dreamers never die."

We zoom in on their enemy in a tower, which is a common things players do for defence.

"So, come and fly"

Realizing they will be shot at, she quickly builds walls to protect themselves, this is a technique in the game.

"Come and fly, Come and fly away with me"

As they lyrics say fly, the 2 players fly off a ramp and into the air, landing a trick shot.

"We're rising,"

Just before they hit the ground, the girl places a 'bounce pad' below them which saves them, it's an item in game that lets you fly in the air.

"we're falling"

She then opens her umbrella to glide and then dives down

"We'll make it through"

The two make their way into an air tunnel which was introduced in season 9 - they are going 'through' it.

"We're climbing,"

Showcases a building technique in the game to help 'climb' to high-ground.

"we're soaring"

Showcases the 'baller' and the 'zipline'. Both mobility devices used in the game to make distance in the air.

"A thousand views"

A thousand views is also a play on the thousand of map changes that happened over the course of 2 years. This is when I start introducing all the in-game events so far. First of which was the "Meteor Event".

The cloud of smoke reviles a rocket - symbolizing the "Rocket Event".

It ends in a loud crash, introducing the "Cube Event".

The cube explodes just like in the event and turns into fireworks which were seen in the "2019 New years Event".

Snow drifts by, hinting on the "Iceking Event", which was during the same season that airplanes were introduced.

The girl reaches out and touches a butterfly, nodding at the "Butterfly Event."

I sneak in tow more very popular vehicles, one which is the 'hover board'...

... and the other being the 'Quadcrasher.'

I show off a cool trick you can do where you can hook onto another person's car by grappling to them.

Continuing the events - we have the "Volcano Event" in season 8.

And the "Final Showdown Event" In season 9.
