These are little animated sprite pets that can live on and interact with your desktop. You can pick them up with a mouse and when left untouched they will explore the boundaries of your screen, as well as do some idle animations.

 

The code is from a program called Shimeiji and I altered it a bit, recreating all the sprites with my own original characters or re-interpreted media characters.
