ANIMATED INTRO

A music video tribute to the video game series "Borderlands".

The project's challenge was compiling 25+ different characters into a 40 second intro.

I was responsible for the entire film from creating storybords, rough animation, clean-up, coloring, editing, effects and publishing.

Scene Breakdown

The scene starts with a vault logo, which is the main symbol of the franchise.

In their first game, "Borderlands", the game starts off with the 4 main characters on a bus, I wanted to capture this as the intro to the video just like it was the intro to the game.

I posed the characters the same way as the character select screen in the bus.

The second game "Borderlands 2" starts on a train. I used this element to cut the frame and transition to our newer characters.

We first meet Zero the assassin on the roof of the train, I wanted to represent that.

His sword swirls and transforms into a whip, which is the weapon of Nisha the cowgirl.

Next to her is Aurelia, which is in the same episode as her. I felt it was a good idea to group them together.

One of Aurelia's powers is to hand another player a contract, enhancing them both. I used this scroll to transition to our next character.

The paper merges into Maya the siren's tattoos.

Maya's powers explode, revealing another female siren who shares similar powers as her - Lilth.

I grouped all three female sirens together. This third one, Angle, shows herself for the first time in person during this cut scene.

She is killed, and her father weeps next to her. I used her tear placements to land exactly where the 2 characters were sitting.

Her father owns a space station, so we zoom out and reveal it.

From this very station another story took place - where an engineer named Scooter rode a rocket down to the planet below.

Now bringing the camera back to the planet Pandora, I show Clap-Trap, a robot who you meet there.

His shape is similar to a vault key, so I made one merge into the other. I show the two sister who are constantly persuading it, but are always just out of reach.
